BRIGHAM CITY FAQs
FOR STREET TEAM
What is BRIGHAM CITY about? Sheriff Wes Clayton (Richard Dutcher) is also a Mormon bishop in a picturesque little burg called Brigham. With his young deputy, Terry (Matthew Brown), and his secretary, Peg (Carrie Morgan), he keeps the sleepy town pretty much in line, both as a lawman and as a spiritual leader. Not much happens in Brigham; church on Sundays, plenty of work during the week. The days pass quietly in this place the locals call "paradise." But things are changing. Real estate and construction are booming. Out-of-towners are moving in. Brigham even has its own 24-hour convenience store. On a routine pass through town, Wes discovers the murdered body of a young woman from California. Brigham's peace is shattered. Wes tries desperately to keep the horrible crime a secret from his once tranquil town, but he's forced to as the inevitable question: Could the murderer be one of us? As the sheriff, Wes must turn suspicion into trust. As the bishop, he must turn fear into faith. Wes is left to draw upon every resource within himself and his frightened town to solve the awful crime and find the murderer before it's too late. What exactly is a Street Team? Street Teamers are people who are willing to do a little bit more than the average person. They help distribute flyers. Some help us by going to the theater scheduled to play BRIGHAM CITY and see if the trailer is up and running and if the banner/poster/standee we sent the theater is displayed in a prominent place within the theater. Members of the Zion Films Street Team tell everyone they know about BRIGHAM CITY. To sum it up, Street Teams care about the future of LDS Cinema and want it to succeed! Why is it so important to be a part of the Street Team? For years, Mormons have had few options at the movie theater and video store when is came to films about them. Often Mormons were portrayed as religious fanatics, as overly naïve, and often as just plain stupid. In 2000, Richard Dutcher changed all that. His film God's Army portrayed LDS Church members as actual human beings with real emotions and real problems who had to make real choices. The film was phenomenal success: God's Army was seen by over 500,000 people in the theater and hundreds of thousands more when it debuted on VHS and DVD. But God's Army wouldn't have been the success it was if it wasn't for our Street Teams. They helped spread the word. They helped people become aware that there was a movie made just for them. If we want to see more films about us, we have to support the ones we already have. We have to lay the groundwork for the other films (and other LDS film companies) that will come. Hollywood movies cost tens of millions to make, with just as much spent on marketing and advertising as the production budget. We don't have that luxury. Everyone interested in LDS Cinema needs to know about our films, but won't be able to unless we have Street Teams ready with information. What is BRIGHAM CITY rated? BRIGHAM CITY has yet to be rated, but we are anticipating a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. We anticipate this rating because the film is about murder, and how people of faith deal with such trauma. There is some violence, but it is mostly implied and is by no means gratuitous. There is no sex or innuendo. There is no profanity. While the film is uplifting and conveys a powerful spiritual message, it is suspenseful and may be too intense for younger viewers. We recommend that if you are a parent, you might want to see BRIGHAM CITY first before taking your young children to see it. Where can I put up flyers for BRIGHAM CITY? Put them wherever you think BRIGHAM CITY's core audience (Mormons) will see them. You may want to hand them out at the movie theater where BRIGHAM CITY will be playing at the weekend before it arrives. You can ask local businesses if they will post a flyer in their store, or you may want to deliver them door to door and even talk with people in your neighborhood about BRIGHAM CITY. Of course, we don't want you to do anything illegal or against any rules, so make sure you have permission before you distribute flyers. Feel free to e-mail us if you have any other creative ways to hand out BRIGHAM CITY flyers! How can I talk to people about BRIGHAM CITY without sounding cheesy? First of all, remember to be yourself. Nobody likes a fake. Be genuineexpress your excitement for BRIGHAM CITY the way you expressed it for God's Army. Ask how others felt about God's Army. Explain to them that BRIGHAM CITY has a broader appeal than God's Army. Non-members can enjoy this film just as much as members. Use the answers provided in above FAQ's when people have questions. And if you don't know the answer to a question, don't be afraid to say, "I don't know the answer to that, but I can find out." You can then e-mail Zion Films with your question and get an answer shortly. If speaking out is not your cup of Postum, go on the internetin LDS and movie chat rooms and message boards. Talk to the online community. There's often less sweaty palms and fumbling over words when talking via the internet. The BRIGHAM CITY FAQ page is updated regularly.
